Welcome Trailmen! A summer adventure for Navigators and Adventurers: a night in screened cabins at Camp High Point, then an overnight canoe and kayak trip on the Ouachita River.

Friday · July 31
Arrive & learn the water
Arrive as close to 3pm as possible. Canoe and kayak instruction that afternoon, then camp for the night in screened cabins.
Saturday · Aug 1
Hit the river
The canoe route begins on the Ouachita River — paddle through the day and camp overnight along the river.
Sunday · Aug 2
Paddle out
Finish the route, load up, and head home with a summer of stories.

Trip requirements
- ✔ Trail Life USA Navigators & Adventurers with proof of swimming competency (at swimmer level) within the previous 12 months.
- ✔ All participants must know and understand the planned route — provided and thoroughly discussed before embarking.
- ✔ Trail Life USA youth-to-leader ratios are followed.
- ✔ Everyone wears a U.S. Coast Guard approved inherently buoyant Personal Flotation Device (PFD) on the water.

Who is this adventure for?
Trail Life USA Navigators and Adventurers, with proof of swimming competency at swimmer level within the previous 12 months. Adult leaders attend too (Trail Life youth-to-leader ratios are followed). Mothers and sisters are welcome for Friday night — or the whole trip — with their own packages.
What does it cost?
$40 per Trailman and $40 per adult for the weekend. Ladies (mothers and sisters): $25 for Friday night in an air-conditioned cabin including Friday dinner and Saturday breakfast, or $45 for Friday night plus the overnight canoe trip (ladies camp separately during the trip).
Canoe or kayak?
Your choice — every paddler picks one at registration. Bring your own canoe or kayak at no charge, rent a campground canoe for $5 (limited number available, first come first served), or rent a canoe from the outfitter for $50. Kayak rentals aren't available — kayakers bring their own.
When should we arrive?
Friday, July 31 — please arrive as close to 3pm as possible so we can begin canoe and kayak instruction that afternoon. We camp that night and start the river route the next morning.
Where do we sleep?
Friday night is in screened cabins at Camp High Point. Saturday night is the overnight on the Ouachita River. Ladies stay in air-conditioned cabins Friday night, and those joining the trip camp at a separate site on the river.
What are the safety requirements?
Every participant wears a U.S. Coast Guard approved inherently buoyant Personal Flotation Device (PFD) on the water. Everyone must know and understand the planned route — it's provided and thoroughly discussed before we launch. Swimmer-level competency within the previous 12 months is required for the river trip.
How do I pay?
Register everyone in your family here and the site builds one itemized invoice. Pay online right from the invoice — bank transfer (lowest fee) or card — with the processing fee shown up front so Troop OK-0098 receives the full registration amount. Prefer check or cash? Contact the troop and an organizer will record it.
